Dr. D.K. Sadana

I am happy to have known Mr Aslam Khan for the last several years as a promoter of Sustainable Farming System in Bundelkhand. His impressive appearance in media during 2020 on the production and then export of the naturally farmed pigeon pea (‘Arhar’) pulse to Thailand and Italy brought us closer and we have been in regular touch especially on Natural Farming as a sustainable as well as saviour system in the region His interest and efforts in promoting indigenous breeds of cattle in Budelkhand has been a rewarding approach and his exemplary work on the local cattle breed Kenkatha brought him laurels from ICAR-NBAGR and several quarters in the country. It has been more of a one-man approach but then score of farmers joined his crusade as a ‘karwan’. He is indeed a one-man army in himself. Working in the hitherto unattended drought-prone region and demonstrating how to overcome the local
agricultural problems majorly by local solutions has become his expertise. This also brought him recognition and awards from Universities and from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

We wish him all success in his endeavors and continuing his journey for betterment of local livelihoods and sustainable production systems.
